Issues buying PSN cards from GameStop (2024)

So I got 4 $10 gift cards for GameStop and wanted to redeem them for PSN credit to buy Rift Apart. I was able to add two $20 PSN cards to my cart and tried to check out but they only let you add two gift cards to an order so I deleted one of the PSN cards and was able to check out no problem. Then when I added the second PSN card to my cart to do the same thing when I clicked "Place Order" I got this message: "Oops! We can't process your payment. Please select a different payment method or check your payment details including your billing address."

I tried doing two $10 PSN cards instead and that still didn't work, tried on the app as well with no success. Anyone else ever had a similar issue and have a fix? I thought about checking out as a guest but looking a Reddit it seems like that isn't a fix either.

I'd try calling their support team or go into a store.

Heads up: If you're a Powerup Rewards member, you can go in-store to use your $5 monthly credit toward PSN/XBL/whatever store cards.

That's wrong. I worked there during the rise of Fortnite. Kids constantly spent gift cards on currency.

Edit: You used to not be able to use gift certificates (reward points) on them, but not gift cards.

I saw that other places too but I had no problem doing it the first time and looking at my order history I've definitely done it before too.

It's very strange.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well but I was trying to avoid that if possible mostly because I'm lazy.

I just did this the other night. Used a $25 gift card to purchase a $25 PSN digital card.

Huh weird, I must be mistaken then, my bad.

I was able to use trade in credit on currency, but they always said I couldn't use gift cards on it (despite trade in essentially being gift cards).

It's been awhile so maybe I got my wires crossed.

Maybe you are right even though I've done the exact opposite and other people in this thread have done it too because I reached out to GameStop customer service and this was their response:

Thanks for the information, I am happy you were able to place your first order because we are not able to place orders of gift cards and pay with another gift card, that is why the system is not allowing you to complete the order.

I am not able to provide you internal information, Thomas. It is part of the system sometimes the orders are completed with this form of payment and we are already looking into this.

It could be a limitation on how many you can order

Best Buy for an example cancels orders for me if I buy more than two cash cards (whether it's a PS store card or Eshop card) in the same order or a immediate order afterwords.

Better to go in store to buy it

Yeah that's definitely possible too. I'm just gonna give it a few hours or wait until tomorrow and try again.

To follow up:

Tried again this morning online but still got declined. Decided to be not lazy and went to my local GameStop and it took all of 5 minutes to get two $10 PSN cards. Ratchet & Clank pre-order confirmed!
