The black gold is a must-have for everyone, even in Conan Exiles. As the game progresses you will have to refill your oil reserves again and again if you want to upgrade your gear.

It's like in real life: Oil is everywhere, at least if it is about upgrading your items. Especially for hardened leather, you need a lot of oil. And as soon as you reach level 60, hardened leather is needed for many crafts.
So the question is: how do you get more oil? And what is the most efficient way? In our guide, we will show you three different options to get more oil.

How to get more oil in Conan Exiles

Overall, there are three main ways of making oil, which is very good because new players might struggle a lot with one or the other.

#1. Farming fish for oil in Conan Exiles

If you are a beginner, this way might be a good choice for you, because you don't need strong weapons or mighty thralls. All you have to do is to catch as much fish as you can (requires level 17 and 2 feat points for the talent "fisher") and convert it to oil with your fluid-press (requires level 28 and 2 feat points). But please don't start catching fish with your hands. This is how you make it work:

• Build some compost heaps in your base (tip: you can stack them on top of each other).
• Fill the compost heaps with 50 x compost, then the heaps will start to produce grubs.
• Harvest the grubs and put them into a preservation box, because these grubs will be decayed rather quickly.
• Build some fish traps and put them into a fordable river or lake.
• Put the grubs into the fish traps and just wait for the fish.
• Harvest the fish and put it into your fluid press to get the oil.

Instead of fat grubs, you can also use insects or bees, which you can get by harvesting aloe plants and bushes. This way of making oil is completely safe and easy, however, it is not that efficient. For 1 x oil, you require 1 x exotic fish, 5 x savory fish, or 10 x unappetizing fish.

#2. Squeezing berries and seeds

Another very easy way to produce oil, is o squeeze berries and seeds in your fluid press. During your endless hours of harvesting resources all over the world, you will get a ton of berries and seeds. Grab everything you can, because you can convert both of them into oil:

• Harvest berries and seeds.
• Build some dryers in your base.
• Dry the berries to get 20 % seeds back.
• Squeeze the seeds with your fluid-press and get 1 x oil for 15 x seeds (it doesn't matter what kind of seeds you have).

#3. The classic oil recipe

The best way to get oil in Conan Exiles, is the most difficult, because you require bark and ichor. Bark of course is easy to get, ichor instead is not that simple. The fastest way is to kill big insects.

However, if you have enough bark and ichor you can get a big chunk of oil. For 1 x bark and 1 x ichor you get 5 x oil. The only thing you need for this, ist he alchemist's bench and a T4 alchemist.
