Reviews 22% Audience Score Fewer than 50 Ratings Restoring and flipping cars can be a lucrative business for firms that do it. One such company is Gotham Garage, which is at the center of this series. Owner Mark Towle leads a colorful crew, which overhauls an eclectic collection of cars with the goal of trading their way up to a showstopper that can be sold for big bucks. As the title "Car Masters: Rust to Riches" suggests, Towle and his crew are hoping they can use their sweat equity and sheer car genius to turn their rusty wrecks into six-figure paydays. Car Masters: Rust to Riches: Season 5 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) John Anderson Wall Street Journal There is much that remains fascinating and visceral about witnessing the transformation of an abandoned heap into a streamlined, candy-colored hot rod. Or whatever. Donald D L Wow, this show went way off the rails in season 5. Just a giant pile of overdubbed staged drama. It's almost as if someone found a dial that controls the level of all the horribleness from the other seasons and turned it up to 11. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Peter b They blow alot of smoke saying how good they are only to produce poor quality finishing and very run of the mill design Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review James K This is an odd but interesting show. The car shop does not do great quality work. You can see orange peel & bodywork problems in the paint through the camera and the styling choices are odd. They'll still endeavor to sell a custom Ferarri they put together in 2 weeks for $200k and get a decent offer on it. So it's interesting and sometimes painful to watch. I cringe watching them them paint "high end" custom cars in a workshop like I'd do on a cheap project as a hobbyist instead of a paint booth like even a low end body shop would do. So it's a bit surreal to watch but interesting. I'm always a bit surprised to see another season but I end up watching it.If you want to see high end craftsmanship & design and learn, check out "Bitchin Rides" on Motortrend TV. If you want to learn skills check out Youtube - Lakeside Autobody, Fitzees Fabrication and 100 others channels. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Tom J Well, for me this show is a crock. If you look at Look at the closeup shots of the cars these guys "create" and you'll see the paint is rippled, poorly finished and the interiors are often dirty and rusty. The Gotham Garage "touches" that they apply to the cars are in such poor taste I can't believe any collector could possibly be interested. They paid $75k for a Ferrari 360 that was trashed. If that's the case the were totally taken. This show is pretty much BS. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/19/23 Full Review Ryan W Highly fake show, plus the only guys/gal/shop who really know how to butcher a decent looking car they make some horrible looking machines. How it has lasted 5 seasons I don't know. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Peter B Stretches the 'reality' genre beyond the elastic limits - almost everything, with the possible exception of Constance's ever present cleavage, is obviously fake. A fastidious buyer who demands the highest quality fails to notice the false nose on the 69 Charger is bent on the leading edge of the left wing, the window rubbers in two miss-aligned sections, the lack of headlights. And he doesn't even lift the hood. The false price negotiations are cringe worthy too. Petrol-heads deserve better than this.
